What we look for
- Mud tubes on foundation walls, piers and sill plates.
- Damaged or hollow-sounding wood, frass, and swarmers or their shed wings.
- Conditions that invite trouble: wood in contact with soil, moisture against the foundation, mulch piled on siding.
- Carpenter ants, carpenter bees and powder-post beetles, which also count as wood-destroying insects.
Why lenders ask for it
Many mortgage lenders, and most VA and FHA loans, require a wood-destroying-insect report before closing. We issue the standard report with your inspection, so there is no second visit and no second fee.
